Earth Day is celebrated worldwide on April 22. It is one of the largest environmental actions in the world participated by various organizations and millions of volunteers from 192 countries every year. It has been celebrated in Georgia since 1990 by organizing various environmental protection actions.

On April 22, 2021, the members of Akhalkalaki Sakrebulo (Local Government Institution), headed by Nairi Iritsian, the Sakrebulo Chairman, and employees of Akhalkalaki HPP developer AIS LLC organized a Tree Plating Action.

Today, 240 pines, spruces and cedars were planted in Akhalkalaki City Central Park, kindergarten gardens and yards and along Akhalkalaki-Kartsakhi Road. Within the scope of the Company’s environmental and social projects, AIS LLC purchased the young plantings from Aspindza Nursery Garden.

Akhalkalaki HPP construction works have started recently, but despite this, we actively participate in the life of Akhalkalaki Municipality. We care about the environment and local people and try to support the development and economic growth of the villages near the HPP. The Tree Plating Action was organized annually under the aegis of Sakrebulo. This year, this tradition was joined by Akhalkalaki HPP team. Today’s action is only a small part of the environmental and social projects planned to realize by the company in Akhalkalaki Municipality”, - stated Mr. Lasha Mgeladze, Akhalkalaki HPP Project Manager.
